  1. Looking Forward To A brighter Future!

Well, hello! It’s been a little quiet around here recently, but we are so looking forward to everything to be opening again soon so that we can see all our lovely customers! We really miss you!
The team sincerely hope that you are all keeping safe and well and that you are as excited as us to get back to treatments with the Massage and Glow team!

Without a doubt, the last year has been extremely tough for all of us. Not being able to see friends and family for so long has had a negative impact on our mental health. We have all had times where we have struggled this past year, but we have battled through, stuck together throughout this, and made it almost out to the other side! The video calls, long conversations over the phone, and the knowledge that this will all soon be over, have kept us all going! We can’t wait to see you again, so we can all have those long conversations in person with you!

Here is what we have been up to these past few months.

Whilst we haven’t been able to provide massages to our customers for quite some time, it doesn’t mean that we haven’t been busy behind the scenes! The team have been expanding their skill set by using this downtime to get ourselves trained in new and important areas.
The whole team has loved taking these important training courses, as it means that we can provide a more well-rounded service for all our lovely customers that will be very beneficial once we can reopen.

One of the most important training sessions we have had is how to detect the effects that domestic violence can have on the body. The team now have the skills to determine if a client had been a victim of domestic violence, simply when giving a massage, and discretely providing information to the client on how to get the help that they need. We are privileged to have taken this training. The team truly hope that it will never have to be used, but the team feel like domestic violence training was an especially important skill to develop.

We have also been perfecting our bespoke pregnancy massage treatments. Any mum-to-be can be overwhelmed with pregnancy and can bear several problems such as back pain, joint ache and anxious, to name a few. By providing expectant mothers with treatments, we can help reduce, or even eliminate the physical and mental health issues associated with pregnancy.

Although we deal with the physical health of our customers, we recognise that mental health is equally as important, so the team have also been taking training to hone their skills in mental health, providing services like positivity chats!

Several big local companies have also been offered our bespoke treatment packages to help those who are furloughed or working from home, to have access to stress relieving and relaxing treatments. Yoga sessions, mindfulness, positivity chats, massage demos, and just general mental health positivity boosting activities have been conducted virtually for the last few weeks, and we have had amazing feedback from the companies on how much the staff are really benefitting from the treatments, which is music to our ears! We love that we can still make people feel good, even if we can’t see them face to face!

Celebrating the heroes of our community.

Despite the hardships we have all faced this past year; the working from home, home-schooling, and perhaps, like us, having to postpone our usual treatments for customers, there have been so many real-life heroes throughout the pandemic. Postal workers, delivery drivers, supermarket staff, carers, bus drivers, train drivers; we are all so grateful for these hardworking, diligent people. A huge thank you is very much deserved to all the amazing hospital and doctor’s surgery staff around the country. Not only have they treated those who have been ill during the pandemic, but they would help save people’s lives every day before 2020. It is true what they say – not all heroes wear capes!

Even those people you know personally; the neighbour that bought you bread and milk to save you going to the shop, your friend who was just on the end of the telephone for a good long chat, and all our families who have been so important to us all during this, have all been essential to us getting through this past year. By sticking together, we have all got through this, and will get through it until it is fully over!

We are currently putting together a Heroes Award for people who have gone above and beyond during these hard times. These awards will be given out to members of the public, who will have been nominated by our customers and friends. We have been in contact with local companies to put together gift packages to give to these fantastic people! We can’t wait to make people shine and give them the recognition that they deserve.

The team are so excited for everything to be safe to open again! We can’t wait to hear all the stories about the cakes you baked, the skills you learnt, and just being positive about the future!

We are in rugby season right now with The Six Nations Championship. Mighty Scotland is up against Italy in tomorrows play-off, and we are excited to see what happens! Even if they don’t manage a victory, we hope that the team have a good massage lined up for them after the match!

What we have been up to this week…

We spent our day in Edinburgh on Tuesday! We went to Citibank, BBC Scotland and to Tesco Bank. We love having recurring, loyal customers, as it makes us feel good knowing that we are delivering a fantastic service!

Our Kaitlyn visited the ECS offices in Glasgow on Wednesday, refreshing the workforce with onsite massage. Judi was looking after all those who popped into our residency in Soar in Braehead. We offer a variety of different treatments and not just massages! From reiki to aromatherapy to Hopi ear candles, we provide a range of expert treatments. A bigger list of treatments can be found here, or contact us here for more information.

If you would like us to come to your workspace to deliver a corporate health and wellness day, or for us to provide your staff with revitalising onsite massage, then please contact us here.

  3. Rain, Rain, Go Away!

It is just been storm after storm these past two weeks! The wind and rain have never stopped us though! In fact, when the weather is so miserable, it is the perfect time to squeeze in a massage!

What we have been up to this week…

The team had the most fantastic day on Tuesday. We hosted a Health and Wellbeing Day at Tarbolton Primary School! Staff were able to choose from a wide variety of luxurious treatments. They could indulge in an onsite massage or learn about mindfulness from a qualified mindfulness teacher. Others enjoyed a relaxing and revitalising hypnotherapy, reflexology or reiki session with our lovely staff. Some even helped alleviate their ear complaints with Hopi ear candles. We even had some fun with a 3D body scanning machine! There truly was something that everyone could enjoy that day! We got some fabulous feedback, and the whole day was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone involved!

Our team also visited and provided some rejuvenating massages to our long time clients at Tesco Bank and The BBC this week. We love that we have such a long-standing relationship with our clients, as it means that we can build up a repertoire with who we massage, which makes everyone happier and more relaxed!

We have also spent a lot of time last week in our residency in Soar this week, too! Lots of our lovely customers were relieved to come in from the rain and have those aches and pains from the cold weather, gently massaged away!

If you would like for the team to visit you at your place of work, or you would prefer to come into Soar for an individual massage, then please make sure to contact us here.

We have finally made it to February! Woo-hoo!
February is the shortest month of the year, but our diary is still jam-packed up with lots of fun and exciting places for us to help recharge and revitalise everyone!

What we have been up to this week…

Last Saturday, some of the team were involved with the Edinburgh Wellbeing Festival. It focuses on teaching us how to live healthier, happier lives by delivering expert advice from workshops, talks, and classes.
We had a fantastic time there!  Judi, our fantastic boss at Massage and Glow, got the chance to massage Dame Kelly Holmes! She was such a kind and caring person, and a pleasure to talk to!

We were also involved with the opening of an award-winning gym, The Urban Fit Company in Greenock. To celebrate the opening, our lovely Sian offered some complimentary massages to all the public who came to celebrate!

Last Monday, Sian visited BBC Scotland to give some revitalising massages to all the crew who work on Mrs Browns Boys. Judi visited the council buildings to help replenish all the staff there with some relaxing and mood-boosting massage. We have also been in to offer massages to all of the lovely people in the Signa offices and everyone who works within The Hub in Edinburgh. What a busy time we have all had!

Today, Judi had a very early start, as she was providing some much-deserved pampering during the morning routine of wedding preparation! The bridal party will surely remember the wedding as a stress- free, happy day!

If you would like our team to provide massage at your corporate event, place of work, or at a private function, then please contact us here.

  5. January Is Almost Out! Roll On Spring!

We have finally got to the end of January! The nights are getting lighter! Let’s hope for a lovely spring to start appearing soon, and for the wet, windy weather to be saved for next year!

What we have been up to this week…

Tuesday, we visited our regular customers at ECS and Tesco Bank. We provided everyone with an uplifting onsite massage to keep morale high, and a helping hand to the immune system to stop those cold and flu bugs from appearing!
Thursday was a very busy day for us! Our relaxing onsite massages at the BBC Studios today were for the staff who work on ‘Mrs. Brown’s Boys’. What a treat!
We also visited The Hub and the Student Loans company, ensuring that everyone was revitalised and rejuvenated! Important things to keep motivation high and work performance in tip-top shape!

Today, the relaxing and replenishing massages were for one of our oldest customers, Turner and Townsend. After recently moving offices, we were all looking forward to seeing them! It all looks very sophisticated and sleek! We wish them the best of luck in their gorgeous new workspace.

If you are interested in booking us to come to your place of work, then please contact us here.
